CD Covers – Upload, Download and Print
Finding a great CD cover can sometimes be a real problem, but
CD Covers has created a clearinghouse for CD covers, including many
designed right on home computers. The site is located at
www.cdcovers.cc. Contests are offered often with prizes for those who
meet the site’s criteria.
Many people download music, movies and other media that would once have
been available only with a trip to retailers. While some is pirated,
there are many legitimate online sources that offer downloads for a
fee. But once you get a great CD downloaded, how do you signify the
contents of that CD? Putting it into a case is a good idea at first,
and you’ll easily be able to identify the contents of that CD by
marking on the case. But what happens the first time you lay the CD on
your desk or stereo without immediately returning it to its case?
Unless it’s your only CD of that color, you’ll likely forget why it was
there and where it belongs. Finding out the contents then becomes a
matter of listening to the CD again. The other alternative, of course,
was to pull out a marker and write on the CD. That makes a very
attractive CD cover.
As more people found themselves with CDs they had burned themselves,
they began to look for ways to make their CDs more attractive. Software
soon became available for creating CD covers. The process first allowed
the user to list the contents on a paper CD cover, then evolved to
include silkscreen and finally to burn the cover directly onto the CD.
CD Covers has offered prizes for the best covers. Contestants upload
their entries and users of the site can then download the covers and
burn them onto their own CDs.
